Suppose the U.S. was involved. What military unit would they have sent? Do you think the news would have reported?
The news just reported the rescue was based on U.S. Intelligence.

Hard to say though I would think US Army Detachment Delta would be my choice, but I’m also sure no US troops were on the ground. But I knew when they first announced the rescue that we had to have been involved in some manner.

I bet it was the Navy Seals. Ask Jesse Ventura. he would make a good vice president for somebody.

If the US was involved, McCain would have had a news conference scheduled to announce the rescue. He was on the outside looking in.
One more snub to the Bush White House.

I’m almost positive that our special forces Had something to do with the rescue. the united states would not just let the own stay in terrorist hands. since it was hostage rescue Delta where probably there. the seals have history on that region so it could have been also. but i am sure boots where on the ground

Flat out yes. Certainly training was done by either Green Berets [SFG(A) ]or Delta. Intell was provided by US through most likely Green Berets. The final question is were they there on the ground as “advisers”, providing over watch or direct action?

Probably Special Forces, they’re always operating in South America.

if so either delta group,or green berets sf units train alot of columbias best troops. and army units help gather intel for them. so they may have been in the background.

The US could been involved. The 7Th and 20Th Special Forces Groups would be training with the Colombian troops or work with them. From the story, I think it was possibly the CIA’s own special operations groups that free the hostages. The news would not be reported because It must look like the Colombians free the hostages so the people can support the government and not the FARC.

The u.s aids with intelligence, military stragety and equipment.
But i don’t think actual SOLDIERS of any kind go into colombian jungles.
this attack was simply a couple of colombian soldiers tricking the farc into believing they were farc soldiers taking hostages to their leader.
while airborne, they exposed themselves as colombian soldiers and neutralized two farc guerillas.
